Square Holes’ community research, consumer insight and consulting has been fundamental for many, many years, guiding everything from reducing smoking rates, to increasing flu shots and building screening rates of bowel and breast cancer. We help reduce excessive alcohol consumption and slow emergency department traffic, improve healthy eating and building community health and wellbeing.
We have used traditational and new qualitative and quantitative research approaches to better understand the general population and key target segments including youth, elderly, disadvantaged, indigenous and the hard to reach. We have provided guidance to a bounty of highly acclaimed and successful health advertising and marketing campaigns.
Square Holes employs behavioural economics, behavioural psychology and other models to make the world healthier.
In addition to our public health work, Square Holes works with many private and not for profit health enterprises from hospitals, to medical imaging, chiropractic to GP placement and large orthopedics hospitals.
BreastScreen SA / SA Health
Mission: “Test and monitor campaign elements to increase awareness & encourage behaviour change.”
Journey: Following the introduction of new technology Breast Screen SA needed to increase understanding of relevant technology to in turn dramatically drive increased appointments using a bold and even confronting campaign.
Impact: Clear direction on television commercial development to ensure clear message take-out by the target audience, and a case for stakeholders to be willing to be brave. The research illustrated that the confronting campaign would attract some complaints, yet general concensus from women (including those who had been impacted by breast cancer), that such a confronting campaign was important to ensure a tangible impact on attitudes and behaviours. The campaign resulted in measureable behaviour change post campaign.
"Square Holes invested heavily in the project definition using senior staff in this process and undertook an effective and efficient engagement entirely consistent with the scope. Project reporting was informative, succinct and delivered in a manner that was very useful for both Board reporting on the brief and for management to action plan accordingly. The output from our project had a very big influence on our subsequent strategic marketing plans both in terms of the content messaging and the manner of delivery. Square Holes managed and exceeded all my expectations."
